Mantrap Township Hubbard County, MN

Established around the turn of the 19th century, Mantrap Township is a 35.8 square mile rural area in Hubbard County in north central MN.  The topography of the township is lakes, forests, and agriculture.  The township takes its name from one of the local lakes–Mantrap Lake.  Mantrap is so named because “its many bays and peninsulas, entrapped and baffled travelers through this wooded country in their endeavors to pass by it or around it.” (https://genealogytrails.com/minn/hubbard/history_naming.html, accessed 4 Oct 21)

The township government consists of three supervisors, treasurer, clerk, and contracted zoning administrator and assessor.  As of the 2020 census, 522 people (228 households) call Mantrap Township home.
